Hear what other golfers have to say about training with Spitz Fitness to improve their game
I've played golf for as long as I can remember but for the last few years I haven't played regularly. With that being said I got out enough to know what distance I hit my clubs. Since starting to train with Spitz I've started to get back on the course more often. The program he's put together has made a major impact on my game. I'm hitting everything about 20% longer. My drive was consistently 250-260 and now I'm 300-310…I was around 165-175 and now is closer to 190-200 yards. Strength, speed and endurance have all increased. I've had golf coaches warn that lifting and golf don't always go together...in my case, David has been able to help me lose weight, gain strength, gain speed, gain endurance and not affect my swing in a negative manner. My swing coach has been very impressed with how my workout program has positively impacted my game.

I have played on and off for years but could never put together an entire round without my back tightening up. I knew my yardages, but they were trending down and I dreaded the back nine. Since training with Spitz I am playing pain free and the ball is jumping off the face again. My driver went from 235 to 285. My 7 iron moved from 150 to 170. Club speed went from 95 mph to 106 mph. I also dropped 18 lbs while keeping my strength. The biggest change was mobility and control work that actually stuck. Hips and T spine feel unlocked and I can rotate without cheating. I can walk 18 without the usual low back flare up and I still feel fresh enough to hit a small bucket after the round. My coach noticed the posture and balance changes right away and said my contact window looks way more stable.

I love golf but my energy would crater by hole 13 and my elbows always barked after range sessions. I wanted distance but also consistency and less pain. Spitz set up a simple strength plan and nutrition that fits my weekly schedule. Not only am I losing weight but getting stronger each week in the gym! My long drive game has been weak for the last few years only gaining 15 yards. I worked with multiple different performance coaches but never felt like I was able to carry over to actual play. Now I’ve increased my average from 205 to 240! I am playing 2 to 3 rounds per week plus a dedicated range day and I recover fast enough to do it again in 48 hours. Elbow pain that used to linger is nearly gone because we built tendon capacity slowly and cleaned up my wrist and forearm control. The nutrition coaching was huge. I finally know how to fuel before a tee time and how to recover after. My driving coach is thrilled that the physical changes did not mess with my mechanics. She said my top of backswing position looks stronger and I am delivering the club with less effort.

I was referred to David from a coworker that had great success with weight loss under his coaching. I also watched has his golf game was improving as well. I finally asked for David’s number to see what I was missing out on. I came to him heavier than I wanted and out of gas at every turn. My driver speed had dropped and I had no confidence with long irons. Working with Spitz I dropped 27 lbs and added speed the right way in just 12 weeks! Driver speed went from 98 mph to 110 mph. Carry moved from 245 to 295. My 4 iron went from 165 to 190 and it actually launches now. The rotation and single leg balance work made a night and day difference in how stable I feel into impact. I also built up endurance. I can walk 18 on Saturday, practice short game that evening, and still play 9 on Sunday morning. The on course fueling checklist and hydration plan keep me sharp on holes 15 to 18 instead of fading.
- Chris
I started because my hips were tight, my lower back ached after every round, and my yardages were stuck. I was also trying to dial in nutrition while training for a couple of member guest events. After 10 weeks I am playing without back pain and I am longer across the bag. Driver went from 210 to 250. David really knows his stuff when it comes to core work and biometrics to strengthen weak areas. He assess where I was at with mobility, strength, and then pin pointed the weaknesses. The plan he wrote was specific to me and my game. My strength improved a lot which shows up in balance and strike. I can practice twice a week and play 2 rounds most weeks without feeling beat up. The nutrition coaching made a much bigger difference than I expected. I am hitting protein targets, I know exactly what to eat before morning tee times, and I recover fast after afternoon rounds. My wife told me my posture had improved as well. This helps me a lot more with confidence when playing with others at new courses.

As a busy professional and new dad, I didn’t have a lot of free time to spend hours in the gym per week. I found Spitz Fitness on google and inquired. David’s background from working with pro hockey players to elite athletes in other sports was impressive but what stuck out to me was his attention to detail during my consultation. He listened to me every step of the way and asked questions to learn more about my goals. The program he built is effective and efficient. He makes adjustments as needed so I keep progressing. I’ve been seeing him for 7 months now twice per week. He provides additional workouts and mobility for me to do as homework outside of our sessions. He truly is a coach who cares about his clients and seeing them achieve their goals. I was stuck at 100 mph club speed for years. After 12 weeks I am at 109 and my driver total is up about 35 yards. If you’re looking to get in shape and improve your game, David is your guy!
